Now that all the facts are in, just bring whatever makes you happy and if you choose, share it with others. Feel free to bring musical instruments, books, CD's, DVD's, art stuff, cameras, hiking sticks, stories, or whatever the Spirit moves you to manifest. This is an unstructured easy going time to spend with our spiritual family and anyone who wants to be there. There will be vegetarian and gluten free options for meals, if the choice is made in time, for cooks to shop that way.
In the past years we have, stargazed, musically jammed, flown radio control airplanes, hiked, done yoga, Sufi danced and taken lovely photographs. You can truly make this a time of renewal.
See you there

Soul musician Eddie Watkins, Jr. brings his uplifting music to Albuquerque when the High Desert Center for Spiritual Living hosts his swingin' Motown & Miracles Concert on Sunday, August 17 from 3-5 p.m. at the Rio Rancho United Methodist Church. Watkins will share a message of musical inspiration at High Desert Center's regular 10 a.m. Sunday Service before presenting the spell-binding concert as part of his Across America Tour. Watkins grew up in the Motor City, a product of tough times amid ghettos. "My music is an expression of all the experiences of my life," he says. As he grew up in music, he watched Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight and the Pips, and the Supremes from backstage. By the time he was 17, he won a place in a recording session with the Temptations. He became one of the most prolific bass players in the music industry, playing with the likes of Marvin Gaye, Quincy Jones, James Brown, Santana, Cher, Diana Ross, Herbie Hancock, Pattie LaBelle, the Pointer Sisters, and Peter Frampton. Watkins' focus changed when he became involved with spiritual living. "Songs woke me up, pouring out of me," he says. His new music bases its principles on a synthesis of spiritual wisdom. "It's self-empowering, uplifting and positive," he says. "It's not exclusive, more universal." Advance tickets for $10 are available from July 1-August 13 at High Desert Center (505-922-1200) or cost $15 at the door. To buy tickets online, click on the button below.
